The Colville Tribes were indeed heavily lobbied and pressured by political interests, including local anti-wolf column writers from Colville to Republic, WA to take part in the slaughter. I saw many articles written by clearly biased persons whom are personal friends of the agribusiness "ranchers" (most of them actually don't do much ranching at all, they just kill cattle and sheep for a living) using their newscolumns as soap boxes from which to preach their anti wolf venon. They actually had the gall to try and frame it to the Natives in a manner which would cause them panic, such as claiming that if Natives wanted to "protect their hunting rights" they should saddle up with them and kill wolves. I don't believe the Colville Tribes would have harmed any wolves, had it not been for this, typical of Stevens and Ferry County, corrupt biased and untrue propaganda, which not only has been fed to the gullible public, but the tribes as well. Too bad they can't be tried for crimes against wildlife, for wildlife is just as integral to Earth, as "humanity".

Fantastic. New leadership in WAG is needed. Guidelines are well and good and make nice flow charts, but unless something is required by law or regulation, guidelines are just suggestions and dont mean much. Having the cooperation of hunters and especially ranchers is crucial in the equation and must be required otherwise it won't work and conflicts will ensue.

Thank you for such a detailed and informative update. It included information I had not seen before. I was wondering what stance the tribes took toward the wolves. I am very surprised to hear they hunted the wolf as I have never heard it being done in any tribal culture.

Keep up the good work. I will continue to support your work and the wolves to the best of my ability. I wish I could express my respect as deeply as I feel it.
