The misleadingly-named ‘Fix Our Forest Act’ (H.R. 471) is bad news for forests — it seeks to greatly increase logging on federally managed public lands, all under the guise of wildfire suppression.
We urgently need your help: Contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to oppose this destructive bill masquerading as wildfire reform. Take one minute: your voice could make all the difference for our forests.
The result of this bill would be lawless logging on National Forests, with virtually no public review or participation. If the bill passes, the public may be barred from challenging logging under broad circumstances, and virtually no scientific analysis or rationale would be required. This bill is an attempt to circumvent vital protective measures and accelerate logging, all supposedly in the name of preventing wildfires and helping forests thrive.
It simply doesn’t make any sense: chopping down trees and removing environmental safeguards is the opposite of fixing our forests. Take Action by contacting your Senators today!
