Urge Congresswoman Hoyle to Co-Sponsor the Roadless Area Conservation Act

Act Now to Protect Roadless Wildlands

Our last unroaded public forests are under attack. Again. The Trump administration plans to eliminate the Roadless Rule, a bedrock conservation policy that protects nearly two million acres of Oregon’s public forests and nearly 60 million acres nationwide from logging, road building, and destructive extractive practices. This rule preserves the last of our intact public lands as a home for wildlife, a haven for recreation, and a lasting legacy for current and future generations.

Now, as iconic forests are being put at risk, it’s time to permanently protect these roadless areas. Sponsored by Oregon’s Rep. Salinas, the Roadless Area Conservation Act (RACA) is critical legislation that would permanently safeguard roadless wildlands. So far, every Oregon Democrat including both Senators are co-sponsoring the Roadless Area Conservation Act, except one: Representative Val Hoyle from Oregon’s 4th Congressional District.

We are increasingly concerned about Rep. Hoyle’s conservation voting record, especially given the numerous attacks our public lands are facing under the current administration. We need Congresswoman Hoyle to stand up for our public lands now more than ever. Act Now! Urge Rep. Hoyle to join her colleagues and support the Roadless Area Conservation Act!

If you can, try and personalize your message by checking out this map of Roadless Areas in Oregon and write about a place you’ve visited, or tell a story about why forests matter to you.

While the Roadless Area Conservation Act is unlikely to pass in the current Congress, we know that laws often take several sessions of congress to become law. Let’s build momentum and demonstrate public support so that safeguarding public lands protections are a priority for our elected leaders.

Thank you for standing up for public lands and helping to protect our remaining roadless areas.
