Tell the Feds: The Public Deserves a Say in How Our National Forests Are Managed
Adding to the long list of Trump administration attacks on public lands, a new Forest Service proposal aims to significantly erode the public’s ability to participate in logging project development. The proposed rule would drastically shorten public comment and objection periods for large projects on national forests, restraining Cascadia Wildlands’ and the public’s ability to track, review, and visit proposed logging projects and to provide comments to the agency that could lead to better outcomes without litigation. These projects can be massive, spanning thousands of acres and impacting drinking watersheds and putting valued recreation opportunities and vulnerable wildlife habitats at risk.
The Forest Service is accepting comments on the proposed rule until Monday, March 9th. Please join us in demanding that the Trump administration withdraw the proposed rule by signing our petition today. After you sign on, share it with your fellow forest-loving friends and family!
