Trump’s Latest Timber Grab: BLM Wants to Change the Rules Governing Public Lands Management in Western Oregon to Maximize Logging

Stop Feds’ Disastrous Proposal to Maximize Public Forest Logging Across Western Oregon

The Trump administration announced its intent to revise the plans that guide the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s) management of 2.5 million acres of western Oregon’s public forests. The admin’s goal for revising the plans is clear: maximize timber production at the expense of all other forest values. In other words, as the twin climate and biodiversity crises rage on, the Trump admin wants to catapult back to the days of clearcutting public forests and sacrificing species’ survival, habitat protections, and drinking water sources to achieve unsustainable logging levels.

The agency is accepting comments on its calamitous proposed plan revision until Monday, March 23rd. BLM does not plan to hold public meetings during this comment period despite the massive impacts the proposed plan revision would have on western Oregon public forests, making it all the more important to submit a written comment. We’ve provided a sample comment for you to get started, but be sure to personalize your message for the greatest impact. What do you cherish about the western Oregon forests BLM manages? Do you camp, hike, forage, or fish there? Have you visited BLM-managed forests with family and friends? Are you concerned about the impacts of the dual climate and biodiversity crises?

We need all hands on deck, so submit your unique comment today, then encourage your network to do the same! Thank you for speaking out against Trump’s latest timber grab.
