Defend the Roadless Rule! Comment Writing Workshop

September 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Trump administration has officially declared its intent to eliminate the Roadless Rule, a bedrock conservation policy that protects nearly two million acres of Oregon’s public forests and nearly 60 million acres nationwide from logging, road building, and destructive development. This rule, adopted in 2001, preserves some of the last swaths of public lands as a home for wildlife, a haven for recreation, and a lasting legacy for current and future generations.

Do you have a story to share about visiting roadless areas or want to share why you value intact wildlands? Make your voice heard! Now is the time to comment on this misguided plan to rescind the popular Roadless Rule. Craft and submit your unique comment to the Forest Service before the deadline on Sept. 19th. Bonus points for also sending in a letter to your representative urging them to defend the Roadless Rule by supporting the Roadless Rule Conservation Act.

Want to learn more about the rule and tips and tricks for writing an effective comment? Join us on Sept. 9th from 6-8pm at the wheel-chair accessible Mahonia Community Room (120 Shelton McMurphey Blvd Suite 230). We will have light refreshments and pizza, and feel free to bring something to share, but don’t forget your laptop. There is one computer available to use if you don’t have one. RSVP here,
and thank you!
