September 22, 2022

SIGN-UP HERE

The Flat Country timber sale encompasses the headwaters of the McKenzie River, where many Oregonians in the Willamette Valley source their drinking water. The proposed timber sale, which could be sold off any day, would drastically impact mature and old-growth forest through aggressive logging.

Want to see the forest for yourself? Join Cascadia Wildlands WildCAT volunteers for a fall equinox hike through the threatened, yet towering old-growth forests within the Flat Country timber sale on Thursday, September 22.

WHERE: The proposed Flat Country timber sale in the Willamette National Forest, near McKenzie Bridge, about 1.5 hour drive from Eugene.

WHEN: Thursday, September 22, 2022

MEETING SPOT & TIME: at Ollalie Creek Campground at 10:00am (free day parking available)

What to bring: weather appropriate clothing, water bottle, lunch & snacks, sturdy boots, a camera if you’d like

Accessibility note: This hike will take place on an unmaintained trail on uneven ground. Adventurous and intermediate-level kid hikers welcome.
